Pow! Oliver Owl slammed against yet another tree. "Another day, another tree," Oliver said as he rubbed his head. Ever since he learned how to fly, he couldn't do it straight. "If only there weren't so many trees, then I could fly better."
As Oliver complained, Tylie Tiger sat in the loneliness of the savannah. "I'm no loner," meowed Tylie, "so why am I alone?" She wishes she had at least one friend! Almost everyone is afraid of tigers. Why did she have to be one!
Tylie decided to take a walk into the forest. She soon hears a soft hoot. Then, she finds a tiny, brown fuzz-ball in a tree. Turns out, that was Oliver! "Ah! Please don't eat me!" screeched the scared owl. "Ew. I'd never eat you!" Roared Tylie. "Birds taste terrible to me!" Then, Tylie and Oliver began to introduce themselves to one another. They instantly became best friends.
Then, Oliver asks Tylie a favor, to switch lives. "Well, let's do it," Tylie replied.
The next morning, they both met where the forest and the savannah meet. They said goodbye to their homelands and switched. Then, Oliver cooed with joy and said, "Ah, the sun on my cheeks, the wind in my feathers!" Then, Tylie roared with happiness, "I love the shades from the trees!" But her roar scared two bunnies and a fawn.
Oliver was so excited! He started his wings. He flapped and flew! So graceful he flew. "I knew I could fly if there weren't many trees," hooted Oliver. "But I'm hungry. Where's the food?
Tylie was having the best time! She made friends with Dina Deer, Cherry Chipmunk, and Beatrix Bear. But one day, Cherry said, "Have you heard of Harpey the robber?" "No," everyone said. Cherry continued, "Well, he goes out in the night and steals food and causes famines. I hear he is robbing the savannah!" This surprised Tylie. The savannah! That was her home! She had to go back and stop Harpey!
Just then, Oliver spots Tylie coming back! He swoops down to stop her. "What are you doing!" Oliver screeched. Then, Tylie told him about Harpey. A faint screech was heard. Then, an eagle was spotted in the distance with a basket. When he was near, Tylie pounced with all her might! She knocked off the basket. It was filled with food. All of the forest and the savannah had a big feast. Even though each other's homes were great, Oliver and Tylie loved their own. So they each went back to their own homes.
